The Social Security Administration maintains a blog with helpful information and resources for persons with disabilities. An article entitled Government Programs for Children with Special Needs was posted in the July 22 edition. The author, Johanna Pickel, LL.M., J.D., is an attorney member of the Special Needs Alliance and says: “For parents of a child with special needs, providing the support and resources their child requires can feel overwhelming. Thankfully, there is help. Let’s explore the most popular government programs available.”

The article contains information and links to resources pertaining to SSI, Medicaid, CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program), SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as Food Stamps), and other programs.
